What is a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)?

An RESP is a savings vehicle used to save for post-secondary education. More precisely, it is an arrangement between an RESP Promoter/Provider and a subscriber.

The subscriber makes contributions that accumulate tax-free earnings. In return the RESP promoter/provider agrees to use the accumulated funds to pay for education expenses for one or more beneficiaries designated by the subscriber
